UPSC Civil Services Exam application process begins for 796 posts, prelims on May 31
UPSC Civil Services 2020 Notification PDF has been released by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) at upsc.gov.in. The UPSC Civil Services IAS Prelims 2020 Online application link has also been activated at upsc.gov.in. All such candidates who seek to apply to become IAS/IPS/IFS/MISC officer required to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2020 Exam first.
The online registration for UPSC IAS 2020 has been started from today at upsc.gov.in. Candidates will be able to register themselves by 3 March 2020.
An applicant is allowed six attempts at Civil Services exam. In case of OBC candidates the number of permissible attempts is nine.
There is no cap on attempts for candidates belonging to SC and ST categories.
The preliminary exam for UPSC CSE and IFS will be held on May 31 (Sunday). To clear the test, candidates will have to clear the preliminary exam followed by the main and the interview round. Those who clear the prelims will have to apply for the Civil Services (Main) examination again and submit an on-line Detailed Application Form (DAF). In the form, candidates will have to specify the order of preferences only for those services participating in the civil services examination for the year for which he/ she is interested to be allocated to.
Further, the UPSC preliminary exam consist of two papers and both are mandatory. Part I will constitute of 100 questions and part II has 80 questions. Both parts for 200 marks each and combine to form a 400 marks exam. For every wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted, as per the rule.

UPSC Civil Services IAS Prelims 2020 Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected for UPSC Civil Services 2020 through the online mode test which will be conducted three stages.i.e. Prelims, Mains & Interview. IAS Prelims 2020 will be of qualifying in nature. The final list of the result will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in IAS Mains 2020 and Interview.Candidates will have to pay Rs 100 as application fee. Those belonging to SC, ST, PwD category and females are exempted from paying any fee.
